Why Twin Branch? Learn how it all got started….
Twin Branch Wellness & Recovery was founded ‘by women and designed for women.’ Owners Amy and Jen’s families, like so many others, have been impacted by mental illness and addiction throughout their lives. In September 2019, chemical dependency had taken hold of another loved one and they immediately identified the need for better recovery options for women. Thankfully, their family member had reached a place that she was ready to accept help. A wife, mother and friend, she took the difficult leap of faith and chose a residential treatment program for her recovery.
She does not regret the decision as the program allowed her to pause the daily demands of life and embrace necessary change. However, were it not for her will, determination and support system at home, the results would have likely been different. Unfortunately, after spending tens of thousands of dollars, the residential facility lacked some basic standards of care and considerations that all women deserve. What about women that are still trying to find their will? What about women that lack proper support? Does the business of recovery always outweigh the needs for basic standards of care to ensure every opportunity can be seized for long term success? Amy and Jen began asking these questions and knew they could offer a solid foundation and recovery program with options for adult women that are ready to recover from addiction. By December 2019, they set out to do it differently!
Amy and Jen are dedicated in their belief that women have great ability to overcome and achieve anything. They also believe that there is not only one path or practice to sustained sobriety. After searching for the perfect location for a healing center, they came upon Twin Branch Mill Pond. Sitting at the top of a hill overlooking the pond was a charming home. As they proceeded up the drive, the home was actually quite large and had been a nursing home many decades prior. After learning more of the history of this beautiful property, it was clear that growth has always been boundless at Twin Branch. Beginning as a private residence and horse farm and evolving to a nursing home and then a church retreat site, Twin Branch has always been a place that offered a natural peace and people that care. Amy and Jen had found the perfect healing site!
The Twin Branch Residence, having been vacant and unoccupied for over a decade, was in need of some TLC. In April 2020, after the start of the Covid-19 lockdowns, Amy and Jen gathered their families and locked down at Twin Branch. It received a much- needed dose of love as the home was filled with children, family and laughter. And it stayed that way through the summer as they, with help of their families, quality contractors and local support, began to ready this tranquil property for its next chapter.
There were minor and major tasks ahead. Surprises galore to endure. The property grounds had been home to many barnyard animals through the years. It was riddled with fallen trees and old fencing. Not anymore! After some bon fires and dump runs, the grounds are now happily maintained. Nearly every wall surface in the Twin Branch Residence has been freshly painted and much of the flooring is new. Amy and Jen carefully selected the colors and furnishings to provide women with a warm, homelike environment. Far from the feeling of big corporate recovery operations, you are like family when you are at Twin Branch.
There was a large, horse barn located on Twin Branch, which the previous church owners restored into a sanctuary and social center in 2012. These buildings, our Empowerment Center (EC), provide ideal spaces for healing and wellness. Amy & Jen could easily picture the way women could feel empowered with the offerings of the EC. An exercise area, resource stations, small library, commercial kitchen and room for large and small groups. All surrounded by the natural peace of the Twin Branch property.
The journey of Twin Branch Wellness & Recovery for Women to open has not come without its share of setbacks. Some harder to move past than others. But, just like life, if we take a moment to be still, reflect and refocus, we will be able to grow and move forward. Growth is a natural theme at Twin Branch. There is symbolism everywhere; in the acres of wild flowers to the goslings that take flight from the pond in July. Even as the seasons change, stillness can be found in bountiful supply. No matter where you stand at Twin Branch, there is beauty and hope to discover what is right inside of YOU!
Amy and Jen want to share Twin Branch with women that are ready to seek positive changes. They work hard to have the best team in place to offer the latest in evidence-based treatment options tailored for your specific recovery plan and beyond. Twin Branch Wellness & Recovery is here for you.
